This address belongs to the Colorado State Board of Health. Any time that you feel a complaint against a hospital, nursing home or any other health care facility is warranted, file a copy with this agency:
Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Facilities
(Hospitals and Nursing Homes)
One Renaissance Blvd.
Oakbrook, Ill. 60181
630-792-5000
Always file a copy of this complaint with this agency at the
same time as the hospital. The Joint Commission may only act
if the complaint is turned over to them within one year from the incident.
By the time the State
has completed their investigation, it is usually too late for the
Joint Commission to act. This is why it is imperative for you to
file a copy of the complaint at once.
These agencies do not like long complaints, be brief, but to the point. State facts only. If you feel that there are errors or omissions in the medical records, tell them exactly where they are. Good luck.
I also recommend that you go to the press and tell your stories of bad care.
